Biography
MgA. Barbora Prokopova (Říhová) is a first prize-winner of The International Smetana‘s Piano Competition 2002 in Pilsen and The International Piano Competition „Jürmala 2004“ in Latvia.
In 2007 she graduated Conservatory in Pilsen,from the piano class of Miroslav Brejcha and at the same time she was awarded by Leoš Janáček Foundation for the best graduate of the conservatory. In the same year she started studying at Academy of performing arts in Prague with Prof. Ivan Klánský. During her bachelor’s studies she´d been studying at Sibelius Academy in Helsinki with prof. Ilmo Ranta as an exchange student. She ended her studies at Academy of performing arts in Prague by the solo performance with AKS orchestra within the concert cycle „The best of“, where she performed Piano Concerto no. 1 B-flat minor by P. I. Tchaikowski, conducted by Petr Jiříkovský.
During her studies Barbora took part in numerous piano courses – for example International Summer Academy in Salzburg , ISA in Reichenau, CSM in Pebble Beach, USA, where she studied with such artists like Avo Kouyjumdjian, Robert Levin, Vassily Lobanov, Arthur Green, Jenö Jandó, Paul Gulda, Gottlieb Wallisch or Ivan Moravec.
Barbora made several recordings for Pilsen and Czech radio broadcast, she performes in Czech republic and abroad (Finland, Estonia, USA, Germany, Austria, Italy, Latvia). As a soloist she cooperated with Barocco sempre giovane, Latvian Philharmonic Orchestra, West-bohemian symphonic orchestra in Marianske Lazne or Petr Macek’s festival orchestra. She also regularly cooperates as a chamber music player with leading czech musicians of the young generation. As a member of ensembles Czech Philharmonic Virtuosi and Quintetto della Trota she performes with front players of Czech Philharmonic.
Since 2019 Barbora works as a teacher and accompainist at the Conservatory in Pilsen.
